The building makes the topographical settlement a well thought-out design theme. The building volume is pushed into the slope at the straight northern edge of the plot. This creates, through a kind of tectonic compression, the internal and external circulation of the building, to which the more functional aspects of the spatial program are also attached. Through this shear, the polygonal southern part of the site is completely exposed, which allows the volume to bend following the course of the sun, maximizing the openings towards the south, the lake and the Alps, where the generous living spaces are located. The building, which rises from the ground, is completely clad in a high-quality clinker brick, whose burnt surface plays with the theme of the earth. The facade emphasizes the solidity of the volume through a homogeneity that is ennobled by a subtle tectonic play.
The smooth surrounding horizontal brick is formed as a rolling layer with staggered stones to delineate the slab faces and, in interaction with the smooth standing clinker layers under the more private window openings, lends the façade a plasticity enlivened by shadow play. The window frames and retractable sun blinds are color-matched and moved into the facade layer, which, together with the glass parapets, focuses the full attention on the facade. The free-standing car lift is provided with a gable roof and, together with the planting of linden trees, cherries and pears, evokes memories of the surrounding agricultural zones.
