The design will be a replacement building, inscribed on the steep slope of the parcel above the Höngg Limmat, so that the building can be enveloped by loose pastoral greenery consisting of bird cherries, shadbushes and a flower meadow.

Access is provided as a topographical cut via a path of interlocking stones that runs along the western edge of the plot; or directly via garage access on Ackersteinstrasse. The floor plan is generated from a square which is accessed through its center. Individual segments are pushed out of the basic form to generate more private spaces towards the slope and to break up the volume with bay windows in an east-west direction. The full-story apartments are opened towards south on the gable end, where the living spaces flow onto facade-wide balconies.

The topography is used here as a spatial motif in expressing the demarcation between the living room and more private family rooms through an offset over three steps as an architectural caesura. The penthouse, which is framed by a copper roof with a high knee-story and floor-to-ceiling dormers, receives its own continuous roof terrace that overcomes the terrain offset. The structure is wrapped in a woven façade of stone slabs offset from each other, which make the building appear like a calm rock rising from the natural slope.

The floor plan is generated from a square, which is accessed via its center. Individual segments are pushed out of the basic shape to generate more private spaces towards the slope.
